What You're Agreeing To
Domain Registration and Renewal
How Registration Works
When you've chosen and confirmed an order for a domain:
- We check again that it's still available
- If it is, we process your payment
- We send the registration request to OVH, Gandi, or Namecheap
- They register it with the domain registry
- You get confirmation when it's complete
We never charge you before confirming the domain is available.Important: Once a domain is successfully registered with the registry, it can't be cancelled. Domains must expire naturally. You can't get a refund for a completed registration (see Refunds section for exceptions).
Domain Ownership
When you register a domain through YorName:
- You are the registrant (owner) of the domain
- The domain is registered through OVH, Gandi, or Namecheap
- The registry (like Verisign for .com) is the ultimate authority
You must provide accurate contact information. This is required by ICANN and domain registries. If your info is inaccurate and you don't respond to verification requests from the registry or registrar, your domain may be suspended or deleted.
Renewal and Expiration
We don't offer auto-renewal. All domains must be renewed manually.
Renewal reminders:- 30 days before expiration: Email and in-app notification
- 15 days before expiration: In-app notification
- 3 days before expiration: Email and in-app notification
What happens when a domain expires:The timeline varies by domain extension (.com, .net, .fr, etc.), but here's the general pattern:
Days 1-45 after expiration: "Grace period"
- Domain stops working (websites and email go down)
- You can still renew at the normal price
- The exact length varies by domain type
After 30+ days: "Redemption period"
- Domain can still be recovered
- A restoration fee (typically around $50, paid to the registrar) applies, plus the renewal fee
- Length varies by domain type
After 60-90 days:- Domain is deleted
- Anyone can register it
- We can't help at this point
These timelines are approximate and vary by domain extension. They're controlled by the registries, not by us. Contact our support team if you need help with an expired domain.
Renewal Pricing
The price you pay for registration only locks the price for that registration period. When you renew, the price may be different because:
- Our suppliers (OVH, Gandi, and Namecheap) may change their prices
- We sell domains at break-even, so we pass along any price changes
We can't give advance notice of price changes because we often don't know about them until we check renewal pricing. This is standard in the domain industry.

Domain Transfers
Transferring Your Domain Away From YorName
You can transfer your domain to another registrar anytime (except during the first 60 days after registration, which is an industry-standard lock period).
How to transfer out:- Go to your domain settings in YorName
- Click "Transfer to another registrar"
- Generate your auth/EPP code
- Provide that code to your new registrar
- Approve the transfer when prompted
No fees. We don't charge for transferring domains away.
Your domain registration time comes with you. If you have 6 months left on your registration, you keep that time at the new registrar.
Transferring Domains To YorName
You can transfer domains from other registrars to YorName.
No fees from us. Your current registrar may charge a transfer fee (that's between you and them).
The transfer process is handled through the standard registry procedures managed by OVH, Gandi, or Namecheap.

Payment and Refunds
Payment
We accept: PayPal, PayPro Global, Omise, Apple Pay, and Google Pay.
We don't store your payment credentials. Those go directly to the payment processor.
Payment timing: Domains are paid for at registration or renewal. We check availability before charging you.
Failed payments: If a payment fails, the domain isn't registered. If a renewal payment fails, the domain expires according to the timeline above.
Refunds
You CAN get refunds for:- Domain couldn't be registered (full refund)
- We made an error (full refund)
- Our service was broken in a significant way (contact us)
- You're in a country with consumer cooling-off period laws (they apply)
You CAN'T get refunds for:- Successfully registered domains (they're registered with the registry, we can't undo that)
- Change of mind about the domain you chose
- Finding a better price elsewhere
- Multi-year registrations you want to cancel partway through
Why no refunds on registered domains? When your domain is registered, we've already paid the registrar, and they've paid the registry. That money is gone. This is how domain economics work across the industry.
Exceptional circumstances: If you have a truly compelling situation, contact us at
[email protected]. We evaluate these case by case and may offer a refund at our own expense.

What You Can and Can't Do
Your Responsibilities
You agree to:
- Provide accurate registration information
- Keep your contact info up to date
- Respond to verification emails from registries or registrars
- Keep your account secure (strong password, don't share login)
- Comply with registry rules for your specific domain extension
Some domain extensions have special requirements:
- .us domains require a US presence
- .eu domains require EU presence
- .fr domains have specific eligibility rules
- And so on
We verify basic eligibility through our registration form, but we rely on our registrar partners (OVH, Gandi, and Namecheap) to enforce registry-specific rules.Prohibited Uses
For domains used with SimDif: The SimDif Terms of Service define what content is allowed on SimDif sites.
Violations can result in suspension of your SimDif site, and repeated violations can result in you losing access to SimDif entirely.
For domains used elsewhere: We defer to whatever platform you're using. We'll only take action if we receive a request from a legal authority.
Important: Violating SimDif's terms may result in suspension of your SimDif site, but will never result in loss of your domain. Your YorName domain remains yours.
Domain Disputes
If someone challenges your right to a domain (trademark disputes, etc.), the resolution follows ICANN's UDRP (Uniform Domain-Name Dispute-Resolution Policy) or similar registry policies.
These processes are managed by the registries and registrars (OVH, Gandi, Namecheap), not by YorName. We're not involved in dispute resolution.

Account Termination
You Can Leave Anytime
You can close your YorName account by writing to us at
[email protected].
You can also close your account by logging into SimDif, provided you have no active domains or subscriptions. Even if you have never logged into SimDif, you can still login with your YorName credentials. Your data is deleted immediately.
If you have active domains: You can't close your account until they expire or you transfer them to another registrar.
Your domains are always yours. Even if you close your YorName account, you can transfer your domains elsewhere first.
We Almost Never Terminate Accounts
We've built YorName to be simple and low-drama. We won't terminate your account for content issues or disagreements about how you use your domains.
We might terminate if:- You provide fraudulent payment information
- You use YorName itself (not the domain, but our service) for illegal activity
- You repeatedly violate these terms after warnings
- A legal authority requires us to
If we terminate your account:- We'll give you 30 days notice (except for fraud or illegal activity)
- We'll tell you why
- You'll have time to transfer your domains to another registrar
- Your domains remain yours to transfer

The Free SimDif Website
Every YorName domain comes with a free SimDif Starter website.
This means:- You get a genuinely free website builder (not a trial)
- You can use it on your domain or a .simdif.com subdomain
- It's completely optional (ignore it if you want)
- Your domain works with any website builder or service, not just SimDif
If you use your domain elsewhere:- Your SimDif site still exists
- It reverts to a .simdif.com subdomain
- You can still use it, just not on your custom domain
If you transfer your domain to another registrar:- Your SimDif site remains active on a .simdif.com subdomain
- YorName and SimDif accounts are linked, but separate services
See the SimDif Terms of Service for details about the website builder.

Service Availability
What We Promise
We provide high-quality domain registration and DNS hosting on servers managed by our registrar partners.
We have exceptionally high uptime, but we don't offer specific numerical guarantees (like "99.9% uptime").
Domain registration services depend on multiple systems (our platform, our registrar partners, domain registries) that we don't fully control.
When Things Go Wrong
If there are technical issues:
- Contact our support team
- We'll work with you and our suppliers to resolve problems
- We'll communicate clearly about what's happening and when it will be fixed
CompensationWe don't offer automatic compensation for downtime because:
- It almost never happens
- Domain registration is different from web hosting (short outages don't usually affect registered domains)
- Many issues are beyond our control (registry problems, global DNS issues, etc.)
But: If our service fails in a significant way that affects you, contact us. We evaluate each situation and may offer refunds, credits, or extended service as appropriate.

YorName, its name, logo, and interface are the intellectual property of The Simple Different Company. Your use of YorName does not grant you any rights to our trademarks or other intellectual property.
Your domain name is yours, subject to the registry and ICANN policies described in this document.
________________________
Age Requirement
You must be at least 13 years old (or 16 in Europe) to use YorName. If you are under 18, you may use YorName only with the involvement of a parent or legal guardian who agrees to these terms.

Legal Framework
Governing Law
These terms are governed by Thai law. Any legal disputes will be resolved in Thailand.
This is because The Simple Different Company (YorName's parent company) is based in Chiang Mai, Thailand.
ICANN and Registry Policies
Domain registration is regulated by ICANN (for .com, .net, .org, etc.) and various country registries (for .fr, .uk, etc.).
The following policies apply to your domain and are incorporated by reference:- ICANN Registrant Rights and Responsibilities
- ICANN Uniform Domain-Name Dispute-Resolution Policy (UDRP)
- Registry-specific policies for your domain extension
- The registrar policies of OVH, Gandi, and/or Namecheap (depending on which registrar holds your domain)
You can find these at:In plain English: These policies cover things like dispute resolution, WHOIS accuracy requirements, and what happens if you provide false information. They're managed by the registrars and registries, not by us.
Limitation of Liability
We provide domain registration services as-is.We're not liable for:
- Registry or registrar errors or outages
- Domains that become unavailable due to registry actions
- Loss of domain due to missed renewals
- Indirect or consequential damages (lost business, lost revenue, etc.)
- Issues beyond our reasonable control
We ARE responsible for:- Our own errors in processing your requests
- Security of your account data on our systems
- Following through on our commitments in these terms
Maximum liability: Our liability to you is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the issue occurred.
Why these limitations? Domain registration involves many parties we don't control. We'll always do our best to help, but we can't be held responsible for the entire domain system.
Indemnification
You agree to hold Simple Different (the company behind YorName) harmless from any claims, damages, or expenses arising from your use of YorName or your violation of these terms.
Disputes Between You and Us
If you have a problem with YorName:
- Email us: [email protected]
- We'll work it out like reasonable people
- If we can't resolve it, Thai law and courts apply
We're a small team (12 people). We prefer to solve problems through conversation, not lawyers.

Changes to These Terms
We'll update these terms occasionally as our service evolves or legal requirements change. Your continued use after changes means you accept them.

The Fine Print
Entire Agreement
These terms, plus our Privacy Policy, are the complete agreement between you and YorName. They replace any previous agreements or understandings.
Severability
If any part of these terms is found unenforceable, the rest remains in effect.
No Waiver
If we don't enforce a part of these terms in one situation, that doesn't mean we've waived our right to enforce it later.
Assignment
You can't transfer your rights under these terms to someone else. We can transfer ours if YorName is sold or merged (but your domains and data remain protected by these same terms).
